ABOUT THE NIGHT: Arrive at CULT Cinema & Bar for a glass of sparkling and a screening of the Aussie cult comedy Death in Brunswick. Shot entirely on location in Brunswick, Sam Neil and John Clarke star in this hilarious time capsule of independent Australian cinema and Brunswick suburban life circa 1990. Post screening, director John Ruane will share his thoughts with the audience in a Q&A discussion moderated by MIFF film programmer, 3RRR broadcaster and film critic Thomas Caldwell. After the Q&A, the party will stroll across the street for supper at Brunswick’s friendly neighbourhood restaurant and bar, HOST for an array of delicious food and drink offerings.

DEATH IN BRUNSWICK: A reserved man in need of a job, Carl Fitzgerald (Sam Neill) finds employment at a Greek restaurant. Upon meeting waitress Sophie (Zoe Carides), Carl begins dating the attractive woman. Though it seems things are improving for Carl, an unexpected situation leads to the death of Mustafa (Nick Lathouris), a shady coworker, and Carl must figure out how to cover up the incident. Unsure of what to do, Carl enlists the help of his buddy, Dave (John Clarke), to get rid of Mustafa's corpse.
